About This Item

Description of Item

Quilt #5185 - Forget-me-not

Kerry Leslie
Brant, Alberta    Canada

Width: 8"   Length: 12"

Materials/Techniques: Crazy quilted panel pieced primarily with silks. Fan motif pieced from two colours of silk. Embellished with lace, ribbons, beading, petit point motif, cross stitch (using waste canvas), costume jewelry elements and glass buttons. Traditional stitched seam treatments in an assortment of stitches: herringbone, detached chain, chevron, cretan, buttonhole, wheat stitch, etc. The backing is made of bridal satin and features fast finish triangles.

Artist's Statement: This is my first AAQI quilt but it won`t be my last. I have made the $1,000 pledge and this is my first quilt to achieve that end. I have been totally obsessed with crazy quilting for about five years now and it is my medium of choice. This piece is very traditional, following many of the guidelines from traditional crazy quilting, featuring seam treaments of herringbone stitch, chevron stitch, cretan stitch, detached chain stitch, etc and combinations. It is pretty encrusted, following the idea that it can never be too much or too far over the top.
Kerry Leslie

Dedication: To my aunt, Olive Lowden, who has recently started her battle with Alzheimers. Olive has always been a caring, fun-loving woman from the Maritimes - good down-home stock and as sharp as a tack. She is dealing now with the confusion and loss of independance brought on by the first stages of Alzheimers.

This quilt is displayed with Fast Finish Triangles.
