18th century wood carved in relief. God the Father is holding a globe of the world. Originally from Colombia, South America, it’s lovely polychrome is beautifully intact with exquisite gold leaf. The piece was an acquisition of the late French collector, art and antique dealer, Eric Vanpoucke, who lived in Colombia for seven years and fell in love with the religious art as well as with the Colombian people. Upon moving to the United States, this was one of the treasures he brought with him. He would love to know that it’s been donated by his beloved wife, Lisa, to the Dominican Friars of Holy Rosary Priory. |
