Antique quilt Nine patch on point.  70" X 72", 1900-1920. Found in Indiana; maker unknown. From the collection of Linda Koenig, author of Scrap Quilts and Ratsburg Road Quilts, (both published by Quiltmaniaand The 4 "x 5" Quilt-Block Anthology. Published on p. 17 of Scrap Quilts (Mania) by Linda Koenig, (France: QuiltMania, 2012). Forty-nine mixed print nine-patch blocks in rows of 7 alternating with 6.5" squares of bright yellow calico with red and black figures.  Three and a half inch borders of the same calico frame the design field, and the natural muslin back is brought to the front to form binding.  Machine pieced and joined, hand quilted in 2" square lattice on the diagonal over the entire surface.  Several holes repaired in age-appropriate fabric, otherwise good condition.  In Scrap Quilts, Linda says of this quilt "I resist the urge to select fabric for setting blocks, sashing, or even borders until all the blocks are pieced.  The color of that setting fabric can all by itself determine the final appearance of the quilt. Navy and burgundy blocks could actually become a yellow quilt!" (Donated by Bryn Inman in memory of her mother Linda Koenig)
