Quilt # 5077- Driving?

Sonia M Callahan
Piedmont, CA    USA

Width: 9"   Length: 12"

Materials/Techniques: Photo transfer phrases, machine quilted, replicated highway signs, permanent marker, keys as embellishment.

Artist's Statement: The loss of driving privileges is very difficult for the Alzheimer client to accept , especially when the individual feels that he or she is quite capable of using skill that they have used for years. The loss of self navigation opportunity often restricts independence, but the DMV in some states have strict requirements. Once a full diagnosis of Alzheimer’s is made, driving licenses are revoked. The statements on the quilt come from friends who have had their driving restricted due to the disease.
Sonia M Callahan

Dedication: To Claire, who in her driving career, never had an accident but was restricted because of Alzheimer’s.

This quilt is displayed with Fast Finish Triangles.
