About This Item

Description of Item

In this on-line nature discovery drawing workshop for up to 8 kids, park naturalist and professional illustrator Margaret Wohler will teach how drawing can be a tool to learn about the natural world with familiar backyards plants and animals.  They will learn a bit about the history of scientific illustration, how to set up a field sketch page, and some basic drawing techniques.

Margaret Wohler is a 25-year park naturalist/illustrator at Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria. Margaret has a masters’ degree in Population Biology and a masters’ degree in Secondary Science Education. She illustrated the Huntley Meadows’ “Guide to Dragonflies” in 1998 and 2012, the welcome signage at Historic Huntley, and other various materials for the Fairfax County Park Authority. She also illustrated the 2018 Yale Anchor Bible guide, “Ezekial” by Dr. Stephen Cook. She teaches all of the park’s art camps, drawing classes, Sketch Hikes, and adult art workshops.

Additional Information
