Fill The Bucket -

Our mission: Preserve History, Celebrate Community and Inspire the Future is dependent on our ability to renovate, maintain and showcase some of the oldest homes and buildings in McKinney; to teach adults and children alike about early life in North Texas; and bring together the community for occasions that celebrate our shared culture and values.

As you might guess, the cessation of daily life as we knew it came at our busiest time of year – 18 weddings, school programs, private parties and our widely popular Farm Fresh dinner event have all been canceled or postponed.  Unfortunately, expenses such as insurance, utilities and maintenance have not. But, neither has our spirit and passion for history.

Historic preservation in McKinney began when a group of strong willed ladies stood up to city hall and saved the 2 Dulaney homes from demolition; since then McKinney’s history has become an integral part of our community identity and part of what makes McKinney “Unique by Nature”.

In addition to the COVID interruption, the accident involving the 1854 Faires House finds us short as well. Neither our insurance, or the drivers, is sufficient to cover the adjuster’s estimate.

We hope you’ll join us and stand up to this historic challenge, like those who came before us, and help us “Fill the Bucket!”
