Linda Timmons Fisher was born in Lubbock, Texas on February 27, 1949, to Margaret Leatha Wilson and Thurman Lee Timmons.  Linda met Charles Fisher when they were in the marching band at Lubbock High School. Both Charles and Linda graduated from the University of Texas and then married on June 13, 1970.  They had two children and made their home in Lubbock, Texas where Charles was an Ophthalmologist.  Linda began needlework as a young girl whose Mother left her projects to do to keep her occupied after school.  Linda developed a love of needlework and an artistic eye.  She earned her Master Craftsman degrees in Needlepoint, Counted Thread, Color and Design and became a Certified Teacher in needlepoint and Certified Judge and Certified Master Judge through the Embroiderer’s Guild of America.  Then she was pulled to quilting because of the beautiful colors of quilting fabric.  She taught quilting classes, served as a judge and in many capacities in the quilting organizations in her region.  Linda’s work as a quilter combines her love of traditional quilts with new techniques, making even her art quilts accessible to the average viewer because of the traditional quilt language she employs.  Linda’s love of quilt history and quilting in general made her the go to person for quilting resources in the area.  Her understanding of the importance of preservation led to financial contributions and donations of quilts and quilt related materials that have significantly strengthened the quilt Collection at the Museum of Texas Tech University.  The pieces she made and gave to the museum can be seen in the exhibition at the Museum through March 6, 2022 and afterwards online at The Quilt Index https://quiltindex.org/view/?type=artists&kid=54-160-3
