Round About Flower Garden -

Mrs. Fisher found the center part of the quilt at an estate sale and completed the quilt. The LCU quilters group did the hand quilting. She felt the fabric and design were old enough that the piece needed hand quilting. Vintage Hexagon Hand Pieced, Quilted by LCU quilters. Made in 2018. Hand Quilted. 78" length 69" width.

Folk Hearts -

Mrs. Fisher said "I got on a heart kick for several years. I came across this pattern and decided I liked it. I really love working with scraps. I get to use the colors I like, and it is not so repetitious. I did all the piecing and quilting on this quilt." Made by Linda Fisher in Lubbock TX 2016. Machine Quilted. 70" length 63" width.

Spring is Sprung -

Mrs. Fisher states that this was an unusual piece. She found a pre-printed pattern for embroidery at an estate sale but decided she did not want to just do embroidery, so she quilted it instead. She used Crayola’s and colored the flowers first then embroidered on it and put those pieces into circles and appliquéd the circles on the background. The quilt has dimensional roses in spots on the trellis. This quilt won an honorable mention at the Lubbock Arts Festival. Made in Lubbock TX by Linda Fisher, 2010-2011. Machine Quilted. 67.5" length and 22" width.

Help for Haiti -

Mrs. Fisher was part of a small group of five quilters who got together regularly. Lyric Kinard was a featured quilter at the Ogallala Quilt Festival one year. She had written a book, “Art Plus Quilt.” Mrs. Fisher's group used her book. It gave them creativity exercises and taught them how to create and talk about art quilts. This is the first in a series of art quilts she created using inspiration from the book. Help for Haiti was from the lesson on texture. She used ropes and satin fabric to create the texture. Made by Linda Fisher in Lubbock in 2010. Machine Quilted. 10.5" length and 9" width.

Mrs. Fisher said this was an experimental quilt she created while part of a small regional quilter’s group. This group was the foundation for the art quilt group that exists now, the Caprock Art Quilters. They met once a month. Made by Linda Fisher in Lubbock TX in October 2008. Mrs. Fisher said this quilt was created when she was a member of the small group using the “Art Plus Quilt” book by Lyric Kinard. Mrs. Fisher said this piece is from the art quilt group which was guided by exercises in Lyric Kinard's book, "Art Plus Quilt". The lesson required them to take something, cut it apart, and put it back together while using other materials. She was trying to push herself and do something different. Petal Rubbing -

Mrs. Fisher said this is a dimensional piece where she took fabric outside and rubbed it with crayons to get texture from leaves. She also used crumpled paper to get striation on the flower and put wire into the leaves to be dimensional. This quilt was shown at the Ogallala Quilt Show. Made by Linda Fisher in Lubbock TX 2013. Seasoned Forest -

Mrs. Fisher said she took a class at the Museum of Texas Tech University on needle work taught by Sue Spargo. Instead of doing just one block of felt leaves hand stitched onto the piece, she did one for each season. When she got her class project home, she had so much fun doing the stitching, she just had to do something with it that was useful, so she used it on a quilt. She had this wonderful background fabric that she bought in California and she just loved it. The tree on the far right was the one she did in the needlework class. Vintage Asters -

Mrs. Fisher found the blades of the flowers at an estate sale. They looked to be from the 1930s and 40s. She just bought the pieces and finished the quilt. Mrs. Fisher said she has no idea who made this piece, She just did the quilting. This is something else that she found at an estate sale. She has found lots of vintage fabrics at estate sales. Music from the Heart -

Mrs. Fisher said This quilt hung in the Buddy Holly Center when the Caprock Art Quilters had a show there. It is made from scrap pieces and appliques. Mrs. Fisher said this is one of her very first quilting projects made when she was switching from needlework to quilting. Airing the quilts -

Mrs. Fisher said this is a collage that she started while taking a class with a friend in Ruidoso. They fused different fabrics on the background. There was a pattern, but she just cannot make things from a pattern, she must do her own thing. She had two little quilts that she had already made and when she got home, she put them on the class project and created her own design. Made by Linda Fisher in 2019.
