Bill Reed

Bill Reed, a retired engineer and whose hobby is making ceramic bowls, has combined his creativity with his desire to serve the hungry in Denton. Bill has contributed to the Empty Bowls project for over 15 years. People have begun collecting his bowls as he inscribes a thought for the day on the bottom of each bowl. This year he has added sets of graduated bowls. Thank you, Bill, for your continuing effort to fight hunger in Denton through Empty Bowls of Denton.

The Solbergs

The fabulous glass plates and bowls included in our online sale this year were made and donated by CJ Solberg. CJ and her husband John, a leader in the Golden Triangle Woodturners Club, have been supporters of the Empty Bowls of Denton since its beginning in 2000.  John and CJ have attended every Empty Bowls of Denton luncheon for the past 20 years. In addition, they have donated many items for our luncheon, auctions and sales. Thanks to John and CJ for their unwavering support of Empty Bowls and dedication to feeding the hungry in Denton.

Golden Triangle Woodturners

The beautiful wooden bowls included in our sale and auction were donated by members of the Golden Triangle Woodturners Club. This North Texas based club is dedicated to providing education, information, and organization to those interested in woodturning. They seek to promote community interest in woodturning and provide guidance and aid to woodturners through the combined resources, knowledge and experience of their members. The Golden Triangle Woodturners have donated thousands of bowls to Empty Bowls of Denton over the past 20 years. For more information about this organization visit http://www.goldentrianglewoodturners.org/GTW-New/index.html.  You can also find woodturning demonstrations from the Golden Triangle Woodturners on YouTube.

Lori Shelton

Many of bowls and pottery pieces included in our sale and auction were donated by Lori Shelton. Lori has been involved in Empty Bowls of Denton for over 15 years. She began taking pottery classes about 5 years ago and is now dedicating much of her time to experimenting with ceramic techniques including wood firing and image transfers. She especially enjoys making birdbaths and feeders.

Heidi Thiele

Heidi Thiele has been involved with the Empty Bowls project for the last 20 years.

Heidi is a part time artist who began making pottery in 2017.  She has worked in many different art mediums over her career.  Heidi focuses her attention on making beautiful functional pieces, but loves to experiment with new techniques and designs.  Check out some of her other work on Facebook @glazedandcrazedpottery.

We welcome our newest contributors…

Happy Potters of Robson Ranch

The Happy Potters club of Robson Ranch is the home to 40 members creating pottery through hand-building, sculpture and the pottery wheel.

The artistic members prepare the clay using the extruder, slab roller, molds, the wheel and textures when making each vessel.

Happy Potters meet every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Creative Arts Building for classes and to play in the clay!
