The prize winning Feathered Star is as easy as a Bear's Paw, with triangle pieced squares, strip pieced diamonds, and no set in seams. This book is the best ever with detailed instructions that only Eleanor Burns can write! Quilt in a Day - Lover's Knot Quilt Easy Strip Piecing (excellent condition) To celebrate her 30th anniversary and the marriage of her oldest son, Eleanor perfected the Lovera s Knot pattern using her signature 2 1/2 strips. Add a touch of romance to any room with this lovely quilt. The elegant pattern uses two strips intertwined to makea knot. The graceful, flow of the quilt is made with two basic, strip pieced blocks. By using color and value in your fabrics, the Lovers Knots stand out to show unity. The blocks are set a point a for a dramatic effect and corners can either be squared or diagonal. Eleanor offers step by step illustrations and instructions to direct the quilter to a successful finish. There are yardage and cutting charts for all 5 quilt sizes and border options for a personalized quilt. Included with the Lovers Knot quilt pattern, Eleanor gives directions for making a matching dust ruffle with tips on measuring and sewing the ruffle. A miniature wallhanging and long and short table runners are bonus projects in the book. They are pieced with narrow 1 1/2 strips for a charming petite finish. Quilt in a Day - The Magic Vine Quilt (excellent condition) Grow a flower garden in beautiful fabrics to grace your bed or wall as Eleanor Burns presents Magic Vine. The patterns for Magic Vine originated in the 1930's in a newspaper quilt column written by Florence LaGanke Harris. As part of a series, LaGanke presented one new pattern each week. In addition to the pattern, the reader was treated to a fictitious story about a quilt group and their leader, Nancy Page. In the group, they shared stories, and decided on what colors to use for their flowers. Twenty-two flowers are appliqued in rows with twinning vines. It is magical because of the variety of flowers that grow on the vine. The vine grows quickly, like the magic vine in Jack and the Beanstalk. Whimsical flowers and leaves are easily made, using lightweight paper backed adhesive or the quick turn method using non-woven fusible interfacing. The outside edges are finished with a variety of techniques: satin stitch, blanket stitch, blind hemstitch, and hand applique. Give Magic Vine a traditional 1930's look using reproduction fabrics or bright and contemporary with vibrant batiks. Enjoy embellishing the flowers with hand or machine stitches, beads, and crystals. Eleanor offers assistance on fabric selection and yardage and cutting charts for all five quilt sizes. Bonus projects are included. The book is conveniently bound in wire-o to lay flat.
