Antique Album block quilt, 69" x 86", c. 1870-1890s in Streak of Lightning setting. The album blocks are a mix of pink, blues, browns, gray, red and black prints, madder brown stripe, etc. The zigzag setting strips are sought-after fugitive purple. The pieced blocks have diagonal groups of three lines of quilting spaced about 1 1/2" apart, with single diagonal lines on the streak of lighting setting 1" apart. Very good condition except for a few spots (see photographs) and the fugitive purple fabric beginning to shift to brown from excessive light exposure. Indigo print binding, white cotton backing. This fabric-lovers' quilt appears to have never been laundered. Donated by Regina Thompson.
